Esposito’s Meats & Deli is a family owned and operated butcher shop, located in beautiful East Hanover, New Jersey. We provide quality cuts of meat and authentic imported Italian specialties with an on site butcher that custom-cuts meats to order. In May of 2009, we were voted Best Butcher Shop in the State of New Jersey by NJ Monthly Magazine.
Gaetano Esposito was born in 1929 in the small town of San Paolo; just outside of Naples, Italy. At the age of 20, he came to New Jersey. Under the tutelage of his uncles, Gaetano learned the butcher trade.
In September 1958, Gaetano Esposito opened his first store on the corner of 5th Street and Bloomfield Avenue in the north ward of Newark, NJ. Over the next eighteen years, Gaetano’s business began to prosper. This growth ultimately prompted a move to Cedar Grove in 1976. Two years later, in March of 1978, the store was again relocated; this time to East Hanover, where it remains in operation today.
Gaetano and his wife Carmela had three sons: Edward, Angelo, and Michael.
Around the turn of the new millenium, Gaetano turned the business over to his three sons. His sons have cointinued Gaetano’s traditions and ways of running the business, maintaining personalized service in today’s modern corporate world.
